ONE GLAD DAY
Our love and dearness has grown throughout our marriage. It is sweeter now than ever.
Hey, doesn't she look good in gold too?
Can you see her love?
"When I found the one I love, I held him and would not let him go" (Song of Solomon 3:4). My name is Kristy Dykes, and I write Christian love stories for Barbour Publishing...perhaps because I live with a hero husband. At this site, I cover marriage, romance, and Christian fiction. These book titles make me smile--and offer great truths: Sometimes I Wake Up Grumpy and Sometimes I Let Him Sleep, Love Extravagantly, Every Marriage Is A Fixer-Upper, Red-Hot Monogamy.

She looks absolutely GORGEOUS in gold, too! Yes, the love is obvious--on both of you!
So glad Kristy enjoyed God's creation yesterday and memorable time with you.
Still praying!
I have been unable to stop thinking about you and your family Kristy. Since I began reading your blog on Sunday, you have been on my heart so heavily and my prayers for you have been bold. Today, I lay my hand on your picture (you are so beautiful) and I asked God to please, reach down and heal you in a most miraculous way that ONLY He can do. I pray He will let you stay with us and with your precious hero husband and sweet family a while longer. I know this is a selfish request; but I only hope should I ever find myself in the situation you are in that someone would boldly approach the Lord for me and ask my merciful Father in Heaven to give me just a bit more time here with my sweet husband and family. May all my faith, love and belief flow into you today and May God show up in this final hour in a blaze of glory. Whatever His will, I accept it, but I pray He will give us more time with you that I might have the chance to meet you here some day.
What awesome love in both of your eyes , she's beautiful in Gold.
Praying always .
Mimi
Milton,
Its Lisa, Julie's friend. She looks amazing in Gold and she looked amazing yesterday..
God is good!
Every morning when I drop off my younger son at school we go through this little ritual that includes both of us reciting together "This is the day that the Lord hath made. We will rejoice and be glad in it!" I like to think that it helps to put us both into a positive perspective for the day--even those days when we might be dubious about upcoming tests, or getting all of our tasks done, or whatever. Well, the other day, it was raining quite heavily and we were just slogging through puddles to get to school when my son remarked, "This IS the day which the Lord hath made, and I WILL rejoice and be glad in it--but it sure is a soggy one, isn't it, Mom?" I thought you and Kristy would get a kick out of this story . . . since today's blog entry shows how much that Scripture verse also means to you.
My prayers continue to be with you all.
You guys look amazing. I am praying for you and you both are on my heart and mind continually. I love you both and wish that I could be there.
Love,
Caroline
I continue to pray also for Kristy's miraculous healing but if it's God's will for her to join Him in heaven, she'll look fabulous in gold there!!!!! But my heart is heavy as you travel this road. Thank you for your testimony of God's strength and your faithfulness.
Milton,
Your love for Kristy, and her love for you is absolutely beautiful and touching.
Kristy looks beautiful in gold.
I am praying for Kristy, yourself, Julie and Jennifer and the grands.
Your blog has touched so many lives.
"With God all things are possible."
Looking at this picture of you two gazing into each other's eyes, these song lyrics ran through my head:
"It's very clear, our love is here to stay..."
We thank you, Father God, for the lovely weather yesterday, and that Kristy and Milton were able to enjoy it together. We thank You, Lord, for the angels posted at Kristy's bedside. We trust you with every second of our lives, and know that Your plans for us our good.
Our prayers continue. Yes, Kristy looks beautiful in gold TOO. In the spirit, I see Jesus behind the two of you, His arms around your shoulders. The threefold cord which can never be broken.
GLORY TO GOD!
Hi Pastor Dykes and Kristy, The both of you always look very beautiful to Jerry, Mamma Mickey, and me. For beauty also comes from what a person is on the inside; and not just the outward appearance. I also agree with you that yesterday was truly a glorious weather day; not too hot, not too cool; but just right. May the Lord continue giving us these types of days to be able "Rejoice and be glad in them." Love you; always, Ginny, Jerry, and Mamma Mickey Griffin
She is a beautiful woman inside and out. May the Lord bless you both this day, and continue to use you to proclaim His goodness.
The world is confounded by a love such as yours, that endures through unthinkable trials. When I pray for your precious family, I always ask God to translate your pain into something beautiful and scatter it like seeds in the hearts who need to see His faithfulness.
O.K. You Two! Wow...you know people will go a life time to find that moment captured in the photo. Many will never know that kind of love. You are special as I know that love comes from the love you have for Christ. Wow...better than "Bogey and Bacall!!"
What a gift you are and how high you have set the bar. THANK YOU!!
"Scarlett darling...we were made for each other!!"
"Oh Mr. Butler"
Oh yes! You CAN see her love, and not only that... you can FEEL it. Kristy DID look beautiful yesterday. As beautful as any angel you could ever imagine. Love just radiates from her, even as she's resting.
My son and I spent a brief moment in Kristy's and Milton's home yesterday, warmly welcomed by their extended family. What an honor. I want to share that the love of God, and of their family just surrounds you like a soft cloud when you step through the door.
As we were leaving, my young son said to me:
"Mom, their house seemed smaller than the last time we were here."
For anyone who has never been to the Dykes' home, it is a spacious, open and very beautiful home. It is full of Kristy and her special creative touches, but it is not small.
When I asked my son why it seemed smaller to him, he said this to me:
"I guess cuz it's all full of love"
Wow. That was powerful.
What he felt was God's undeniable presence there! I know this because I felt it too. There is a peacefulness and so much overwhelming love and grace, mixed with a quiet sadness, that is difficult to describe. But it was comforting still, like a warm, soft blanket on a cold night. The love in their home just fills up your senses and your heart.
That kind of love and peace is what most people search for their entire lives, and many probably never find.
Almost like a small taste of how Heaven must feel. What an honor to be a part of that and experience that brief time in their home, and to see beautiful Kristy at such a private time. That moment won't be forgotten.
Bless you Kristy, Pastor Dykes, and the rest of your family. Our prayers are still with you.
Love,
Dawn Scott
Wonderful picture, Milton. Thanks so much for sharing it.
Pastor Dykes,
I'm looking forward to the video of your hymn-singing (not HIM-singing). It must have been such a precious time for you both.
God bless you & watch over you...and may He fill your hearts with singing even when there are no words.
so beautiful!
Beautiful pictures and beautiful lives lived for the King. Love and prayers, rose
What a beautiful picture of the two of you. And how nice that you can look right out onto a porch and then outside from the bedroom. Praising God for the good day yesterday. A time of singing and praising God in song. Just a very small taste of Heaven.
I not only see her love, but I also see her joy. I see it radiating from both of you.
I know Kristy's favorite color is turquoise, but I like her best in gold. I didn't know it, however, until I saw this picture.
Praying for you both.
