GOD, IT'S KRISTY; PLEASE EXTEND MY LIFE

My brother Terry told me to read the story of King Hezekiah's healing. He said to say to God, "This is Kristy, and I'm your child, and I'm asking you to heal me." He said, "I know you are making a faith declaration, but read this story and let God apply it your life."

I looked up this fascinating story in Isaiah 38 and 2 Kings 20 in both the New International Version and The Message.

King Hezekiah came down with a terminal illness, and the Lord sent the prophet Isaiah to tell him to prepare to die. Hezekiah turned from Isaiah, looked at the wall, and prayed:

"Remember, O God, who I am, what I've done!
I've lived an honest life before you,
My heart's been true and steadfast;
I've lived to please you; lived for your approval."

"Then the tears flowed," the Bible says. "Hezekiah wept."

Isaiah was not halfway across the courtyard when the Word of God stopped him. God said: Go tell Hezekiah this: "I've listened to your prayer, and I've observed your tears. I'm going to heal you...I've just added 15 years to your life."

Isaiah further told Hezekiah to consult the medical people and take treatments.

Then Isaiah said God would give Hezekiah a sign to confirm this. It involved the sundial.

As Milton and I were talking about this amazing story, I read it aloud. Suddenly, he was out of his chair in a flash, crossed the room, knelt in front of me, took my hands in his, and prayed, "Lord, extend Kristy's life. Give her a sign that You're going to do this. Give her a sign," he repeated. "Give her a sign."

"God, this is Kristy, and I'm boldly asking you to extend my life so I can continue to write (and speak?), as You've called me to do. I submitted to brain surgery and 25 radiation treaments with five more to go. Please extend my life, as Hezekiah prayed. And Lord, give me a sign that You're going to do this. Give me a sign."

Kristy, I will pray that God will give you that sign, and it will be so obvious that you will know that it could have only come from Him.

Kristy, I'm sure you don't remember, but early on in your illness I wrote in a comment section about this very passage and offered it as prayer for you. It is a remarkable passage and nothing is impossible for God.

Kristy, this is exactly the story my Dad read when the nations best doctors gave him 30 days to live. He was so sick, as I can attest having worked with him and seeing him not able to climb more than three steps without sitting down and clutching his chest from heart trouble. It is through those verses that God spoke to him and told him he was going to heal him and send him to the ends of the earth with His Gospel (which later, he dedicated a church at the southernmost tip of India that was called the ends of the earth!. After this word the Lord led him to confirm it according to the Word, which fell open to Isiah 53:5, where the word spoke that by His stripes we are healed, and to the verses in 1 Peter 2:24 which said that by His stripes we were healed, and the verse that said to call the elders of the church and that they should annoint the sick with oil, and the prayer of faith will save the sick and the Lord will raise him up! It was after that that we had a hard lesson in the prevailing doctrines of the churches, as Daddy went from chouch to church through various denominations to find anyone who would annoint him with oil and pray the prayer of faith. He was told that God doesn't heal anymore, and he was told that that passed away with the Apostles, and he was asked by one preacher, "annointed with what?", and others actually laughed at him. It was only as he was giving up that he passed a little church on Greens Hill here in West Columbia area, called Westside Assembly of God, and inside he was so delighted to find a little young fiery red headed preacher called Terry Roberts who not only said he would annoint him, but said that they did it all the time. One year to the day after that prayer an evangelist called himout in a large auditorium and told him that his obedience to His Word had healed him of a bad heart and that he would never be bothered by it any more. He was delivered and set free, and became a healing evangelist, and missionary, and one whose prayers availed much for many. Please don't give up, as that is really not an option for us in whom Life itself, Himself, dwells. Dad lived many decades more after that with no medications for heart trouble, and no bypass surgery that the doctors said he would have to have or he would not survive 60 days at the most, and even if he had surgery he would only have a 50/50 chance of survival.
Your friend in Christ, tom

Kristy, We have been praying for you. I walked through an illness with a friend who the doctors had given two weeks to live. God led me to pray "Hezekiah" into her life and others joined me. I told her, "We don't deny the report, we just know who has the final report. We are asking God to add time to your life." God did add time to her life and it was good time! Boldly ask our gracious God for more time! Blessings, Barbara and Gaylon Benton

Thanks, Pam, for reminding me of your earlier comment about Hezekiah's prayer. Because Hezekiah prayed that prayer, which is record in the Bible, I prayed that prayer. I know God is going to give me the time He decrees, and I rest in it. I'm so happy!

Thanks, all, for your comments. Gaylon and Barbara, so good to hear from you! We go back a long way--to college days at Southeastern University. God bless--

I love that prayer: "We don't deny the report, we just know who has the final report." Very cool.

I've been praying the Hezekiah situation from the beginning for you, Kristy. I believe God has more work for you to do here. This world needs you in it.

Dearest Kristy,

Continued prayers for your healing, dear friend. I'm also praying for that special sign--a clear sign from the Lord--that you are healed. It happened for my sister through a message on Christian radio. Told by her doctors that she had a couple of months to live, the Lord had a totally different message for her. He healed her of cancer, and she lived another twenty years to finish the work He had for her here before He took her home to be with Him. He makes all things beautiful in HIS time.

Glory to God! All things are possible with God!

Love you always,
Nancy

HI Kristy,
I've also thought of this story of King Hezekiah as I've prayed for you, and I've asked the Lord to bless you in the same way. He is able to do more than we can even imagine. Amen! He has given you today, so I pray you will treasure it and enjoy it with those you love. We are thinking of you and asking the Lord to show you signs of His love, signs of His grace, and signs of His healing.
Prayer and a big hug,
Carrie

Dear Kristy,
I believe the word that Terry shared with you about Hezekiah is right on. I know for a fact that the Lord extended my Mother's life as a result of her prayer. In 1975 she had her first heart attack when my youngest sister was not quite 12. When she was waiting for rescue to take her to the hospital that night, Mother said she prayed and asked the Lord to spare her life to be able to raise Cindy. And guess what? She attended Cindy's high school graduation!

Our God is all powerful and holds you in the palm of His hands. Remember the old chorus we used to sing growing up? "My God can do anything, anything, anything. My God can do anything. He made this earth and all its fullness and all that time shall bring. My God can do ANYTHING!!"

You're a wonderful inspiration to all of us.

Love and Prayers,
Mary Jo
