THIS IS MY MIRACLE!

KRISTY, HERE:

I've been thinking about miracles all day today. Today, at 3:30, I took my first treatment. It was scheduled for yesterday and Milton called it "Miracle On Monday." We got there, and they told us the machine broke. With a joyful spirit, we said, "Well, God, you know what You're doing, and even through this disappointment (I'd wanted to get this process started for two weeks!), we choose to praise You through this, and to put our confidence in You."

I feel joyful; I feel good.

Let's talk about miracles for a moment. First of all, I'm going to have one (keep reading for perhaps a twist in how you normally think). I am a person of faith. I first "came to know Christ" in the womb. Just kidding. But my mother took us to church from the time we were babies and didn't just rely on the church to give us spiritual instruction; she did it herself also. And that is when I "found Christ."

I was raised in the South on Jesus and Nana's layer cakes, and not necessarily in that order! Ha Ha. I've always loved Jesus, it seems, and I had a deep desire early on to live for Christ, and to work for Him in the Kingdom of God. As a student at Southeastern University, I would pray this prayer while kneeling in my dorm room: "Oh, Lord, please use me for your kingdom. Please let my life count for You. Let my life bring glory to Your name in WHATEVER WAY YOU SEE FIT." That's been my mantra my entire life, my goal.

For my readers, I must say something very important. The day I received my diagnosis of GBM brain cancer, as we were leaving the hospital, I said to Milton, "I WANT TO GO TO CHURCH!" See, after that devastating diagnosis, Milton thought I would want to go home and rest (he had the Wed. night service covered by another minister). "No, I said, I want to go. I want to tell the people. I want them to pray for me."

So he took me to church, and I told them what had happened to me. Then I said, "I want God's will. That's how I've lived my life. If God gives me a healing in heaven, well, that's just great. I can see my dear sweet darling mother just that much sooner. And if God gives me a healing on this side of heaven, well, great, too. It's a win-win situation. And, whatever the Lord does, will be for His glory."

So how does this relate to miracles. I'm glad you asked.

When Gabriel appeared to Mary (apropos for this season, don't you think, since it's Christmas time, and since I'm facing what I am?), while delivering news from God, he asked a hard thing of Mary. He wanted her to get pregnant for a divine purpose. How could this happen, she asked? She'd never had relations with a man. The Bible says she was terrified. Read this beautiful story in several versions. Imagine a young woman being asked this hard thing. Imagine all of the things that would happen. She didn't even have a husband! Other ramifications would occur that would be hard, unbearable, even. I know how I'd feel. I'd been so upset and so afraid, which is exactly how she was.

But then a miracle occurred. (And there are many miracles in this story.) But this is the one that applies to me and my situation right now. After Mary weighed everything and then pondered (thought deeply), she said:

"Be it unto me according to your will."

In other words, Mary said, "Yes, God I will do as you asked."

Despite the difficulty!

Let your mind run to how hard it is for a single mom to raise a child today, and then shift those thoughts back to 2,000 years ago. How hard! How impossible.

But, again, here's the miracle I'm focusing one. She said, "Okay, God."

She said, "Okay!"

And that's the miracle in my life today.

I feel the "preach" coming on (a preacher's term).

AND THAT'S THE MIRACLE IN MY LIFE TODAY.

AND IT'S THIS: Like, Mary, I place my life in God's hands to do as He sees fit. I'M GOING TO DO WHATEVER HE REQUIRES OF ME, just like Mary. (She could've refused, but SHE CHOSE TO DO WHAT THE LORD REQUIRED OF HER).

NO MATTER WHAT IT IS, I'M GOING TO DO IT. DOESN'T MATTER TO ME. I KNOW I CAN TRUST YOU, LORD, AND I KNOW YOU HAVE THE HIGHEST BEST FOR MY LIFE.

So, Lord, I CANNOT wait to see what You're going to do for me. Oh, I feel chill bumps.

***

We were at doctors' offices and medical centers today for four hours, and I'm a little tired. And I have to put in my disclaimer again about typos.

But remember this from Kristy Dykes: God has your highest purposes at heart, AND, He wants to do something miraculous for you. He will take care of you, no matter what the path He chooses. Did you hear that?

So, don't be afraid. Be joyful, like I always am. I can't wait to see what God has in my future. You do the same.

Kristy, while I continue to pray for a miracle, after reading this I am keenly aware that the peace you have exhibited throughout this most difficult time is evidence of supernatural intervention. It is truly the peace that passeth understanding. Thank you for modeling for all of us how life ought to be lived. Reba (Turner) Woolverton

What a wonderful example you are, Kristy.
True Faith, I believe, is not trusting God to do what we've asked Him to, but trusting His character enough to accept whatever He does.

Kristy, thank you for reminding me to trust in the Lord no matter what my human eyes see. It's easy to ask God for something and believe in Him to answer, but your so very peaceful reliance on Him no matter how He responds is truly beautiful. You wanted the Lord to use you for His glory, well, even now, with your shining example, His name is being glorified. May our Heavenly Father richly bless you!

Kristy,

You will be abundantly blessed for doing God's will. I will keep you in your prayers as you go through your treatments. I'm so glad that you are in His incubator. Being raised on a farm and having seen babies in incubators, I know that they can be the very essence of life.

I came here from Deena's and am also praying for her this morning. God will use both of you to glorify His Name.

Blessings,
Mary

From the depths of the heart
You cry for the pain to depart
Health to restore to show His love to you more
Weary and weak we need His life to speak
And tell sorrow to flee and to set me free
For you are like the spider caught in its web
You need your strength to be restored
And Faith emboldened as sorrows are diminished
Pain relieved
Groaning of Waning of desire
Pains of remorse you want loneliness to depart
No one understands my pain
No one can know my heartache
Your pain He bore
Your wounds he healed
Your cross He carried
Your fear he relieved
Your health to restore
Faith soars, your heartache and panic He relieves
Constant abiding in His love and care
Like a Father his child’s worries to bear
Helplessness vanishes with help from above
Soaring like eagles, yet on wings of a dove.
Freely you fly to your God up above
Wrapped in His glory hear whispers of love
From the Creator who made you with all knowing eyes
Who shaped you and formed you for all of your life
Peace and prosperity He wills to bring
Causing your heart a new melody to sing
Weariness departs at the wink of His eye
Darkness departs as the clouds from your sky
Sweet mercies of love pour down from above
And fill you with gladness and joy in His love
Keep trusting my friend as He will complete
All that He started in you this very week
His plans for you never changed when pain was your lot
His Path still lies before you unchanged and unhindered
His will to perform in your life lies silently ahead
Don’t worry, don’t fret, He will never depart
His will and His way was above ours since the start
Great things He will show you
Great things He will do
Just keep trusting in His dear care
Like in the care of The Father He is
Stand still and see His salvation
